Applying as a mission and service team
There are vast opportunities for teams to come on mission during the 2012 Games.
This will be to serve alongside local churches and among the thousands of international visitors.
Teams will each need to have –
- An appointed leader
- Between 5 and 20 members
- The support of their church or a recognised mission agency

What kinds of teams are needed?
There is something to suit every willing and servant-hearted team. Teams are needed who are just willing to pitch in and help as well as those with special talents and experience.
Teams with special talents are needed in the areas of -
- Sport outreach and mission
- Visitor outreach
- Supporting local community outreach
- Children and youth ministry
- Creative and performing arts
What will be expected of a team?
Teams will be expected to –
- Meet their own travel and daily living costs
- Take part one and a half days of briefing and orientation
- Serve a local church programme or events through More Than Gold
When are teams needed?
The window of opportunity is from July - September. However, the key time is the last week in July to the middle of August.
Preferred dates are:
Tuesday 24 July to Friday 3 August
Friday 3 August to Monday 13 August
Tuesday 28 August to Monday 10 September (Paralympics)
Where will teams stay?
Some teams will be accommodated by churches, where there are suitable facilities, in a church building or school. Or in homes.
However, many mission teams will need to arrange their own accommodation. For details click here.
How will teams be allocated?
Teams are going to be allocated to work with churches, groups of churches or in strategic locations. according to their skills, experience and availability.
Teams with very specialist skills may be shared between opportunities to use them in the most strategic way.
