Free pack of ideas and help for churches
A free 48 page compendium of resources is now available to help churches make the most of the 2012 Games.
The publication offers a host of practical ways for churches to engage with their community during the Games and the Torch Relay. The ideas include large screen festivals, barbecues, street parties, picnics, breakfasts, children’s games, sports quizzes and sport competitions.
There are also resources for church activities, including an all-age sermon outline, sketches, prayers and outlines for small groups. To help churches publicise their activities there are a sample press release and church magazine article.
The pack has been produced and funded for More Than Gold by Traidcraft. And isavailable free of charge from traidcraftshop.co.uk/churcheventpack or calling 0845 330 8900.
Throughout, there’s an emphasis on helping churches keep justice in mind with the encouragement to use fair trade products during the Games and beyond.
Jane Rilely, Traidcraft CEO explained, “With so many churches planning to run events in the context of the 2012 Games, we wanted them to have the vital issue of fair trade in mind”.
Jon Burns, UK Director of More Than Gold said, ‘There is a wealth of practical help here for churches. We are so grateful that Traidcraft has made this possible’.
