Sports ministries say 'game on' for the 2012 Games
Representatives of 20 Christian sports ministries met recently to develop approaches and resources that would help churches make the most of the 2012 Games.
The group, who met at RockUK’s Frontier Centre near Northants, included a wide spread of those who use their passions, abilities and faith in the areas of cricket, football, athletics, golf, surfing and chaplaincy.
A major outcome was the development of a one page, step by step, guide to help churches with no experience of sports ministry take their first step.
Mark Blythe of Sportsforce International who was there said, ‘We hope the commitment and unity of this group to serving the churches will result in the transformation of communities across the country’.
The outcomes of this historic collaboration will form part of the presentations at the More Than Gold’s ‘On Your Marks’ 17 centre tour during May and June.
Meanwhile many of the sports ministries ready and able to help churches set up their own programme are listed on the network’s website at www.uksportsministries.org
