The Church of England's Olympic and Paralympic Executive Co-ordinator, Revd Canon Duncan Green, says, 'I hope every church takes the opportunity to attend These briefings offer churches the way to see what could be done in their local situation and the resources and support available'.
Churches need Gold Champions
THE MOST IMPORTANT thing a church can do is sign up their own More Than Gold Church Rep - a Gold Champion.
Gold Champions are the key link between the Games and their church. There are lots of benefits as well including -
- Receiving their own eNewsletter with the latest updates
- Getting invitations to special briefings
- Using the More Than Gold logo on their church's Games-related activities

More Than Gold DVD for churches in production
A DVD to help churches see the potential of the Games is in the final stages of production. It will be ready for download early in October and be featured on the forthcoming vision tour.
A key contributor is Graeme Hodge, a member of the Salvation Army's Olympic task force. Graeme tells of the role he played in both the Sydney and Atlanta Olympics.
Also feathered is Rev Janet Binns (pictured), the Olympics Coordinator for the Oxford Diocese. She stresses, 'Even though our churches are a long way from the Olympics sites there will still be a huge interest and therefore opportunities for them to take.
The DVD, includes music by Delirious? and is for churches, church leaders and home groups.
Prayer points
Without God at work nothing we do will have lasting value. So please pray for the More Than Gold Executive, working teams, staff and volunteers.
As you pray please -
- Give thanks for the provision of offices and facilities for More Than Gold conveniently placed near Kings Cross
- Hold before God the vision tour Your Church and the 2012 Games that starts in October which is in preparation right now.
- Thank God for the good relations between More Than Gold and LOCOG (London Organising committee of the Olympic Games). And ask for wisdom over some key activities that have yet to be nailed down.
Thank you.
